Qualifications & Experience
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) from the University of Newcastle in 2011, Maddy has worked primarily in mental health, where she’s seen first-hand how creativity can empower people across all stages of life.
Maddy has completed additional training in the following areas:

- Solution Focused Brief Therapy
- Motivational Interviewing
- Allen’s Cognitive Levels Screen
- Eating Disorders – Meal Support Therapy Training
- Creative Approaches to Mental Health and Trauma

- Intellectual Disability in Mental Health
Professional Interests
Maddy is passionate about supporting people to discover their own meaningful, creative, and fulfilling ways to participate in their world.
Maddy has facilitated creative workshops for Mental Health Occupational Therapists across Hunter New England Local Health District, and in 2024 she presented at the OT Australia Mental Health Forum Creative Approaches in Contemporary Practice. She also created an immersive experience called ‘Shifting States: A Multisensory Meditation on Connection” at the Newcastle Fringe Festival in 2023 and led a team of Allied Health Professionals to engage their own creative practices in service to the community.
Creative Skills
Creativity is part of Maddy’s own wellbeing. She sings, plays guitar and ukulele, writes songs, and holds a Certificate III in Music Performance. She has gigged with bands at local pubs, markets and cafes as well as weddings and funerals. Outside of work you’ll also find Maddy running, mucking around at her local cafe or practising ZenThai Shiatsu with friends and family.
