Private Health Insurance
You are able to claim for sessions on your private health insurance under Occupational or Speech Therapy. If you would like to use this option, please just let us know and we can send you weekly receipts after your sessions.
GP/Medicare Plans
Medicare rebates do not usually cover the full cost of therapy, but they may reduce the out-of-pocket cost. If you would like to explore Medicare options, please speak with your GP, paediatrician or specialist and ask whether any of the following apply:
1. GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (CCM)
· Ask your GP for: A GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (formerly called a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan or EPC Plan).
· Who is this for?
Children or adults with a medical condition that has lasted, or is expected to last, 6 months or longer, and who require ongoing care from their GP and at least one other health professional. Eligibility is determined by your GP.
· How many sessions?
Up to 5 Medicare-rebated allied health sessions per calendar year, shared across all allied health providers (for example, OT, Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, Psychology or Dietetics).
· Medicare rebate
A Medicare rebate applies to each eligible session - current rebate approximately $61.80
2. Medicare M10 – Complex Neurodevelopmental Conditions & Eligible Disabilities
· Ask your Paediatrician or Psychiatrist about: A referral under the Medicare M10 pathway for Complex Neurodevelopmental Conditions and Eligible Disabilities.
· This is a separate Medicare funding pathway and is in addition to a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan. Families may be eligible for both.
· Who is this for?
Children and young people under 25 years of age who are suspected of, or diagnosed with, an eligible neurodevelopmental condition or disability. Referrals can be made by a GP, paediatrician or other eligible medical specialist. Conditions include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, Rett Syndrome. There are also other eligible neurodevelopmental conditions and disabilities, please speak with GP for more details.
· How many sessions?
Up to 8 assessment sessions (lifetime), shared across eligible allied health professionals. Up to 20 treatment sessions (lifetime), delivered after diagnosis and a treatment plan has been developed.
· Medicare rebate
A higher Medicare rebate applies - current rebate approximately $87.25.
3. Medicare Funding for Speech Pathology
· Ask your GP, Paediatrician or Specialist about: A Medicare M10 referral for Speech Pathology.
· From 1 March 2026, children and young people under 25 years may now be eligible for Medicare-funded Speech Pathology assessment and treatment if they are suspected of, or diagnosed with stuttering, speech sound disorder (including articulation disorder, phonological disorder, childhood apraxia of speech, dysarthria), cleft lip and/or palate.
· How many sessions?
Up to 8 assessment sessions. Up to 20 treatment sessions (lifetime, before age 25).
· Medicare rebate
A Medicare rebate of approximately $87.25 applies to eligible services.

Scholarships
We understand that for some families the cost of therapy is prohibitive to your child’s attendance. One of our greatest desires is that every child have the chance to be involved and learn. This is why we offer partial scholarships to help reduce the cost of sessions. As Inspire Ability grows we are committed to offering more scholarships to ensure that our service is accessible to those who need it most.
