Psychologist

Qualifications and Experience

Ruby graduated from the University of Technology Sydney with a Master in Clinical Psychology, writing a thesis project on nutrition messaging in schools and its impact on students with eating disorders. Ruby has also completed a Bachelor of Criminology and Psychology (Honours) at the University of the Sunshine Coast, writing an honours thesis on cognitive functioning in adolescence and associations with coping styles.

As a psychologist, Ruby has worked with children and adolescents in schools delivering evidence-based clinical psychology treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness integrated Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MiCBT). Ruby also enjoys leading group programs to help children improve communication skills, create friendships and build confidence.

Ruby has experience conducting cognitive assessments and has a particular interest in ADHD and intellectual functioning in children and adolescents.

Prior, Ruby worked as a family practitioner for non-government organisations case managing families to increase wellbeing and parenting skills through at-home visits and goal-setting. Ruby also has previously worked for the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural affairs (QLD) as a youth worker on group programs to reduce recidivism.

 

Professional Interests

Ruby has a passion for working with children and adolescents to help them improve mood, anxiety, emotional regulation, attention, self-esteem, communication skills, relationships and school engagement. Ruby enjoys working with children, adolescents and families to identify their goals and improve their overall quality of life through individualised evidence-based treatment.

 

Creative Skills

Ruby loves to work creatively with children, using picture books, arts and crafts, and board games to deliver therapy in a meaningful and creative way. Ruby performed in local musical theatre productions for ten years and aims to utilise these transferable skills to teach clients through fun role-play activities.
