Madelyn Smith

Community Outreach Occupational Therapy Assistant

“All children are unique, talented and amazing! I feel so lucky to be able to help them build on their strengths and reach their goals.”

Qualifications and Experience

Madelyn is studying towards her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) at The University of Newcastle. She also graduated with a Bachelor of Communication in 2019. Madelyn has worked and volunteered in preschools and primary schools where she has lead art and craft activities and assisted with classroom activities.

Professional Interests

While Madelyn is still learning all about Occupational Therapy at university, she’s interested in paediatric OT and working with children with all kinds of abilities, strengths and challenges. Madelyn is excited to combine the creativity and innovation of her Communication degree with her OT Assistant role to create interesting and meaningful therapy.

Creative skills

Madelyn loves visual arts! She especially enjoys drawing and watercolour painting, but will give anything artistic a go. Madelyn enjoys working on her own art projects and believes the most beautiful art comes from patience, creativity, courage and getting a little bit messy! Madelyn grew up attending art classes throughout her childhood and teenage years, so she knows how therapeutic AND fun art can be for children. Madelyn is excited to use her passion for art in her role at Inspire Ability.
