"All children are unique, talented and amazing! I feel so lucky to be able to help them build on their strengths and reach their goals."

Qualifications and Experience
Madelyn has been working as an OT Assistant on our team since the start of 2022. Madelyn is in her final year studying Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) at The University of Newcastle. She also graduated with a Bachelor of Communication in 2019. Within the community outreach aspect of her role, Madelyn has delivered multiple group programs at local preschools and primary schools targeted at fine motor skills and sensory exploration. She has delivered OT screening assessments of children from 10 local preschools. Madelyn has experience in working one-on-one with her own clients and in partnership with other therapists. Madelyn also has undergone professional training in the Zones of Regulation and Handwriting Without Tears programs.

Professional Interests
Madelyn is passionate about making therapy accessible to all children and families. She loves the community outreach side of her role where she can do just that: help bridge the gap by assisting families to access therapy, make positive change in children’s lives and help them be the best versions of themselves. Madelyn loves school-based therapy and loves being immersed in the school environment. Through her university studies, Madelyn is furthering her knowledge on OT in preterm babies and creating a foundation for development, learning and regulation in the first few weeks of babies’ lives.

Creative Skills
Madelyn loves visual arts! She especially enjoys drawing and watercolour painting, but will give anything artistic a go. Madelyn has recently rediscovered her love of charcoal drawing. Madelyn enjoys working on her own art projects and believes the most beautiful art comes from patience, creativity, courage and getting a little bit messy! Madelyn grew up attending art classes throughout her childhood and teenage years, so she knows how therapeutic AND fun art can be for children!
